I LOVE Palo Alto! The people who are taking my Theater Games workshop there totally “get” what these deceptively simple, ensemble acting exercises are all about. We bring out our creativity within the safety of a group. The trust level we must have to do this is profoundly important, if we are to actualize our full potential. Otherwise we are all in the closet. Maybe we let ourselves out after a few drinks or a drug, but not in the dog-eat-dog world in which we live, work and try to love.

I NEED A SAFE PLACE TO PLAY – Somewhere, it must be ok for me to take risks with other human beings and not worry that I’ll look “bad” or be judged. So I created that space for myself and others – The Next Stage.

San Francisco folks, I did not forget you. I am now putting together a new Theater Games workshop for you. I’m looking for a space on Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Please let me know, if you have a preference.

Palo Alto People – New-found Friends

The IMPROV STORYTELLING Workshop in Palo Alto has been an absolute joy to teach because the people in the group are super-duper! I have had the honor of leading a group that comes to me already having had life-times dedicated to the Healing Arts, thanks to Brad Beldner & Noelle Morris. They both took my Theater Games Workshop in Sunnyvale and just turned on to the healing aspect of this work, as well as just the fun of having a place to play and be totally expressive in new ways. Brad took on organizing the whole workshop for me and he and Noelle put the word out to their friends, colleagues and clients.

We just completed the 5 week course and will hold one more session, next Wednesday, December 21st 7:30 pm, as an Open Class for others to come to, as well. As we do in class, I will be teaching and side-coaching improv storytelling “games” or exercises that we have learned during the 5 week workshop. It will give us a chance to go a bit deeper and share with interested friends, as well.

WOW! Big changes in the new year! It’s going to be AMAZING!!!

I am very excited to tell you that I’m working with visionary playwright, Dino DeFilippi on a FABULOUS new musical, STARDOM – A New Myth for Humanity. I’ve known Dino for 1000 years. I worked with him on STARDOM when he first conceived of it, 35 years ago!! He’s asked me to collaborate with him on the final script, on producing and co-directing this modern day myth about the evolution of human consciousness!!! It is HUGE!!! We will be holding readings & gatherings in 2012 to share the play, the ideas it embodies and to invite you to be a part of bringing into reality a new time for awakened human beings. STARDOM will open in December next year, 12/12/12. Stay tuned.

The training programs of The Next Stage will also be going through a major shift. The wonderful group of people in my Palo Alto IMPROVISATIONAL STORYTELLING Workshop are healers, dancers and therapists and have inspired me to offer a Professional Training Program for Spolin Theater Games Coaches both in Palo Alto and in San Francisco. I have done this successfully in the past and am thrilled to pass on the fabulous tools for the development of human potential that I learned from my mentor, Viola Spolin. I will still be offering the Beginning Level Theater Games Workshop for anyone who wants to learn Theater Games for life and for art. Soon I’ll be sending out notices to let you know when you can join us.
